Enterprise Development Course

The Enterprise Development course focuses on understanding the various aspects of enterprise development including the enabling environment, finance and other business services and access to markets.  In particular, the course will focus on methods of improving the competitiveness of enterprises in the global economy and improving trade prospects. Topics covered will include the policy and regulatory environment, workforce development, SME finance, facilitating business service development, trade agreements and WTO compliance, promoting exports, public-private alliances, and measuring program results. The course will be delivered by Weidemann Associates, Inc. under the Business Growth Initiative (BGI) project and USAID and project staff from EGAT/EG and the region.

Goal(s): 

The goal of this course is to ensure particpants gain an understanding of the key aspects of enterprise development; enabling environment, finance and other business services and access to markets.

Objective(s): 


  • Develop an awareness of the various elements of how to promote enterprise development with practical examples from the region and elsewhere

  • Develop and strengthen participants’ knowledge of how to program specific activities related to enterprise development and how to relate them to the existing situation in a country

  • Introduction to a new enterprise development diagnostic tool to measure improvements in enterprises resulting from project activities

  • Become acquainted with successful enterprise development approaches and examples from the region
